Dear Goddess,

You are cordially invited to be a member of our private club - dedicated to supporting and empowering women - from joining our co-working, healing, growing and playing space to using our online portal.  But first I think it might help to hear why and how this all came together!  

My co- founder Roxanne and I, our Pantheon of leaders, and the majority of our inaugural member goddesses have been gathering together in Goddess Circles, raising children, learning from Elders, building businesses, partying, being wild, witchy and wonderous, attending each other’s births, light working, making art and music, teaching and healing each other with various modalities, writing books, attending medicine ceremonies, falling apart and coming together again, as a community, for over 15 years.  All the while, the circle of women keeps getting bigger, more diverse and more beautiful year after year, week after week. I have been dreaming of a big enough co-op working and retreat space that embodies all of that and welcomes new amazing ladies we have yet to meet in a homelike setting so we could get isht done, find our center, get help with our child care AND do all of the above if we so choose. In addition, I wanted to create a way for all women - including transgender women and all those who associate with the feminine -  to network and support each other’s work, and that is what this site has turned into!  It’s finally happening, and we want you to be part of it!

I have always been obsessed with my friends becoming friends or working together and women partaking in goddess gatherings because frankly these things kept me alive.  When something sustains you, I think it is a biological imperative to want to share this with your fellow humans.  I have planned over 100 goddess gatherings by now, over 500 events through an all-female events company I co-founded in 2005, and I have performed as a rapper and singer at over 300 shows, many in other countries.   Since the first event, performance and gathering, I continually saw a vision of a space and online network where all the goddesses I love would spend time together and support each other regularly, not just at “special events”. Various iterations have happened, but it was hard to sustain, for so many reasons...it just wasn’t the time.  It became clear to me as my friend group expanded to over 100, that the “No New Friends” and “Women are caddy!” mantras and constructs are really just a conditioning device of the patriarchy to keep us divided and conquered. But despite this, every gathering or event I planned or performed at garnered new faces and connections that created lasting friendships, deep sisterly bonds and tangible changes in our lives and the world.  

In addition to this feeling like the right time in general, personal tragedy made me want to move even faster. I recently lost my mother suddenly, and then my childhood bestie to addiction, and became pregnant with my second child, a baby girl, literally all at the same time.  This impetus to grow sisterhood and make this happen became even more important to me as I recalled the ways in which I lost my mind when my father and other people close to me passed away, or the way I isolated myself after my son was born.  I recalled in my grief the pains many of us mothers have trying to retain who we are, or our business or art, whilst trying to be a great mom, all the while dealing with loss, oppression, trauma and rage. I feel so strongly that we shouldn’t be doing this stuff alone, especially when right here in Pittsburgh there is an entire army of light workers, bad ass mothers, mental health professionals, artists, entrepreneurs, educators and healers. Everyday it seems that more and more women, female identifying individuals, men and every identification beyond and in between are becoming conscious of the divine feminine within ALL beings and are orienting their lives and work towards transforming themselves and (thus), all of humanity...which can’t be done through masculine values alone.  I have learned through indigenous wisdom, moon magic, numerology and astrology that feminine wisdom is returning to the planet, in the nick of time. We witches are back after a millennia of oppression and slaughter! The red tents must return! And brain science is now supporting HOW we can actually harness this feminine energy and knowledge to heal our collective and individual psyches.

We have a much better chance of creating a livable, equitable and sustainable world for our children if we work together, share resources, and love and empower each other, unconditionally. 

This is what our co-working, playing, healing and growing space is all about.  We want to build a community of women and children, and any male counterparts we may have.  We want to help transform the system and we want to transform ourselves, not because we are broken but because the system doesn’t work for all and therefore doesn’t work for anyone in the way that it should.  We are seeking to create a new system by healing the root causes of racism, homophobia, sexism and every other -ism that exists, one person at a time, because we want to and we have to.  The planet will survive our destructive ways as mama earth knows how to protect her kingdom, but we won’t survive ourselves if we can’t empower all people to value the divine feminine that is within every living thing that seeks to nurture and protect us, our kids AND the planet. This work is hard, but it just sort of happens when women come together.

My co-founder Roxanne is a healer. She has become my family, not just my friend.  She changed my life with her healing hands and energy, and in addition to just wanting to gather, work and play together,  I wanted her incredible magic to be available to all people in Pittsburgh and beyond.  She herself is going through great transitions, so the timing is also perfect. I asked her to found this venture with me and handle coordinating space usage, members, and the healing rooms and wellness programming she does so well, to finally co-create this ideal in a home that my family now owns (through straight up miracles) because I KNOW it will work now. And she wasn’t the only one that healed me.  All of the women who have joined us have magic and have changed my life and MANY others in a significant way….and there are about 50 women who still have to fill out member profiles! I know that they will change yours too and vice versa, and I am jumping out of my skin with excitement about this fact! 

And I think it is important to know that this isn’t a money-making or profit-oriented venture at the heart, although I envision all members will make more $$$ by being connected and sharing resources, clients and ideas. Having a member profile on the site is free and space usage gifts are based on what you can afford.  Of course we do need to pay the billzzz, such as utilities, maintenance, cleaning, upkeep, upgrades and of course the mortgage, which will help me make this vision continue and eventually will allow me to take the home off airbnb on the weekends (which isn’t even covering the bills as is!)  We also need to pay Roxanne for the time and effort she will put into coordinating usage members and pay Imani to manage the childcare program and volunteers (Imani is an amazing young woman I mentor and the daughter of one of my dearest friends Yolanda! Imani is 18 and due one month before me, also with a baby girl and is getting all her clearances!) Once these expenses are covered the plan is to give profits back to members to either make membership more and more affordable or allow members to donate to local charities or scholarship programs for women who need help with membership gifts. But no one will be turned away EVER from participating due to lack of funds, regardless of a scholarship opportunity or not. I am actively pursuing grant funding to make a program work efficiently! Also, many women are becoming members and offering discounts but not using the space. (See link below for discounts offered to those who offer discounts!). This site is becoming a large network of women supporting other women so we want you involved regardless of your use of the actual nest.  We also have a huge list of sister spaces being built that we support and encourage you to do the same.

So there you have it! The synchronicities and alignments that have occurred to make owning this home and the completed and planned renovations happen, as well as the full download of how to make the nest actually work, are beyond my belief, so it is my sincere and otherworldly pleasure to invite you to join us in starting or sustaining our businesses, working our day jobs, raising our kids, healing our bodies and minds, teaching our magic and having fun….while we evolve society for the better.
